Chichen Itza International Airport is located in the Mexican municipality of Tinum, Yucatán state. The airport serves as a gateway to one of the most visited archaeological sites in Mexico, Chichen Itza, an ancient city built by the Maya people. The airport features a 2800m runway, operates 24 hours per day and is capable of handling instrument flight rules (IFR) operations. Chichen Itza only handles private aircraft traffic. However, the Yucatan government plans to relaunch commercial operations at Chichen Itza International Airport, by awarding Ciclo the airport's management concession in Jul-2016.
