About

Henderson Field serves the Sand Island, in the Midway Atoll, one of the minor outlying islands of the United States in the North Pacific Ocean. The airport is in operation between November and June by the US Department of Interior to monitor the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, home of the world's largest nesting albatross colony. It is operated by the US Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service.
