Macae Joaquim de Azevedo Mancebo Airport (previously Benedito Lacerda Airport) serves the city of Macae in south-eastern Brazil. The city is a hub for Brazil's offshore oil industry and one of the fastest growing in Brazil, located 200km east of Rio de Janeiro.
In Mar-2019, Flughafen Zurich AG announced it was awarded a 30 year concession for the operation of Macae Benedito Lacerda Airport. The airport was previously operated by Infraero. In Feb-2021, Florianopolis Hercilio Luz Airport announced Zurich Airport unified its operations in Brazil under the brand Zurich Airport Brasil. Zurich Airport Brasil is the concession holder for Macae Benedito Lacerda Airport.
Brazil's Senate authorised the renaming of Macae Benedito Lacerda Airport to Macae Joaquim de Azevedo Mancebo Airport in Jun-2022.
