Lungi International Airport serves the city of Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone, and is the country's major international gateway. The airport is located in the town of Lungi, which is separated from Freetown by the Sierra Leone River. Lungi is connected to Freetown predominantly via ferry, water taxi and hovercraft. The airport is publicly owned and is operated by the Sierra Leone Airports Authority.
