About

Daocheng Airport opened on 16-Sep-2013 and is the world highest civilian airport. The airport, located in the Tibetan region of Sichuan province, is located 4411m above sea level, and overtakes Qamdo Airport, located 4344m above sea level. Services would initially connect with Chengdu, with services to cities including Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chongqing to commence at a later date. The CNY1.58 billion (USD258 million) airport is designed to handle 280,000 passengers p/a and is expected to help open up the nearby Yading Nature Reserve to tourism.
