About

Carajás Airport serves the town of Parauapebas in the northern Brazilian state of Pará. The airport is located in the Carajás Mining Complex, one of the largest iron ore mines in the world. Vale constructed the airport in the 1980s to support its mining activities at Carajás.

On 29-Mar-2023, Aena signed the concession contract for 11 airports in Brazil, including Carajás Airport. Aena was awarded the concession of the airports in Aug-2022 following a USD474 million bid. The concession has a term of 30 years. The airport was previously operated by Infraero.
