Bucharest Aurel Vlaicu Airport (also known as Baneasa Airport) is an international airport serving the city of Bucharest, Romania. The airport is located 9km north of central Bucharest, and was the city's major international airport until the construction of Henri Coanda International Airport, which is the larger airport serving the city. Baneasa Airport is among the world's oldest continually operating airports and is the second-largest airport in Romania. The airport experienced a severe drop in passenger numbers during the 1990s when TAROM moved all operations to Henri Coanda International Airport. Aurel Vlaicu was converted into an airport fully dedicated to business air traffic in Mar-2012. All charter and LCC traffic moved to Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport (Otopeni).
