Swoop is a Canadian ultra low cost carrier headquartered in Calgary, AB. The LCC is a venture by WestJet, a response to growing competition in the price-sensitive market following the introductions of low cost Canadian brands such as FlyToo (previously branded as Jet Naked), NewLeaf (acquired by Flair Airlines) and Canada Jetlines. Announced on 27-Sep-2017, Swoop announce plans of operating domestic services with a fleet of 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft configured with 189 seats in a single class structure. WestJet will headquarter Swoop in Calgary to enable the new airline to share infrastructure and services with the parent company - including human resources and service operations. The airline launched operations on 20-Jun-2018, with Hamilton-Abbotsford service. Swoop ceased operations in Oct-2023 with WestJet incorporating its operations.
