About

Small Planet Airlines Germany (Small Planet Airlines GmbH) was a subsidiary of the Small Planet Group to be based in Berlin. The carrier was expected to allow the group to further capitalise on charter opportunities in Europe. The new carrier secured a German AOC, and deployed a fleet of two A320 aircraft at its operating bases in Bremen and Paderborn. Small Planet Airlines GmbH signed an agreement Thomas Cook Airlines for the operation of Paderborn services to Mediterranean destinations. Small Planet Airlines Germany launched on 13-May-2016, with a Bremen-Heraklion service.

The airline suspended services in late Oct-2018, returning four A320 to lessors and storing two A321 at its Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport hub. Dutch based investor SF Aviation BV and parent company of VLM Airlines Brussels, signed a purchase agreement for acquisition of the carrier in early Nov-2018.
