About

PowdAir is a proposed Swiss airline to be based at Sion Airport. Initially, the company planned to launch as a virtual carrier catering to the winter snowsports market in Switzerland. It planned to launch services from destinations in UK and Western Europe to Sion from 11-Dec-2017, operated by Backbone Aviation. In Oct-2017, PowdAir rescinded plans to launch 21 times weekly Sion-Zurich service in Dec-2017, citing "commercial reasons". Adria Airways Switzerland withdrew its operational agreement with PowdAir, and Backbone ceased operations in Jan-2018. PowdAir secured a new investor and affirmed it will not enter administration, citing it will postpone the launch to 2018 and operate as an airline rather than a virtual carrier.
