Polar Airlines
About
Polar Airlines (Polyarnye Avialinii), trading as Polar Airlines Joint Stock Company, is a government owned Russian passenger and cargo carrier based at Yakutsk Airport. The carrier was established in 1997 as the Batagai, Kolyma-Indigirka, Chukordakh and Tiksi sub-divisions of Aeroflot. Yakutia Airlines taken control of its Yakutsk-based competitor, Polar Airlines in Dec-2016. The acquisition allowed Yakutia become the sole operator on certain routes in Sakha Republic. Yakutia and Polar will continue to operate separately but coordinate their fare policies. Polar Airlines now operates as a subsidiary of Yakutia Airlines.
