Full Service Carrier

In service

Niki is a scheduled full-service airline based at Vienna International Airport. The carrier operates domestic and regional services within Austria, Europe and to Egypt. Niki was founded in 2003 by Austrian aviation entrepreneur Niki Lauda and now operates in partnership with airberlin.

airberlin filed to commence insolvency proceedings on 15-Aug-2017, in order to continue with a "restructuring process". In accordance with negotiations between Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Air Berlin PLC, Lufthansa will acquire regional carrier Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter mbH (LGW) and NIKI from airberlin for a combined purchase price of EUR210 million. No effective date has been announced, however CAPA expects the acquisitions will be in effect following the cessation of service operations by airberlin. airberlin is expected to cease all remaining air services from 28-Oct-2017.
