Green Airlines is a proposed German virtual start up airline to be based in Karlsruhe. It planned to launch Karlsruhe-Berlin Brandenburg service on 01-Nov-2020. The start-up also plans to launch Karlsruhe-Hamburg service from Jan-2021 and Karlsruhe-Sylt service from Jun-2021 and is currently in discussions to open a second base at Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport.
On 23-Oct-2020, Green Airlines announced it launched a new wet lease partnership with Chalair Aviation to use Chalair's ATR 72-500 and Beechcraft 1900 equipment. The carrier planned to launch service with Beechcraft 1900 aircraft from Karlsruhe to Berlin from 01-Nov-2020, operating three times weekly.
On 30-Oct-2020, Green Airlines announced plans to postpone the commencement of operations until after Nov-2020 due to stricter COVID-19 travel restrictions being implemented.
In Nov-2020, Green Airlines delayed the launch of operations to early Feb-2021. The carrier now plans to launch Karlsruhe-Berlin Brandenburg service from 01-Feb-2021, operating four times weekly.
In Jan-2021, Green Airlines postponed the launch of its initial Paderborn-Sylt service until 26-Mar-2021. The start-up also plans to launch Karlsruhe-Berlin service in summer 2021 and Karlsruhe-Hamburg service in late summer 2021.
In Feb-2021, Green Airlines plans to launch operations at the end of Mar-2021, commencing services from Paderborn to Sylt and Zurich and Zurich to Sylt. The start-up noted that planned Berlin-Karlsruhe service is suspended until further notice due to ongoing measures to slow the spread of COVID-19.
