About

Flyr was a low cost carrier based in Norway. The airline operated domestic services in Norway and popular destinations in Europe. The carrier offered full booking, check in and boarding functionality through its app. Flyr intended to be an efficient and sustainable airline with a digital product and fewer but more targeted routes and schedules. The carrier also intended to support employment in Norway by employing its staff directly under Norwegian pay and conditions. The airline stated its founders, including CEO Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid and investor Eric G Braathen, have extensive experience with companies including BRA - Braathens Regional Airlines, Norwegian, SAS and Widerøe. Flyr received an air operator's certificate from Norway's Civil Aviation Authority on 17-Jun-2021 and launched passenger operations with Oslo-Tromsø service on 30-Jun-2021.

Flyr filed for bankruptcy on 01-Feb-2023 due to the carrier facing a critical short term liquidity situation after failing to raise the capital required from shareholders and investors. As a result, all departures and ticket sales have been cancelled and ticket sales discontinued. Flyr stated that it will request that further trading on Euronext Growth Oslo is suspended.
