fastjet Tanzania was a pan-African LCC based at Tanzania's Dar Es Salaam Airport. The airline was established through a partnership between Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou and Rubicon Investments. fastjet launched services on 29-Nov-2012 with two daily flights on two domestic routes in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam to Kilimanjaro and Mwanza, utilising A319s. fastjet entered a conditional agreement with Solenta Aviation Holdings in Jan-2017, under which fastjet will issue 95,633,199 new ordinary shares to acquire a Solenta special purpose vehicle, which will own the right to enter wet lease agreements and receive discounts of USD19.2 million on the future cost of services provided by Solenta. Solenta increased its stake from 29.8% to 54.3% in Nov-2018. fastjet Group ceased all funding to fastjet Tanzania in Nov-2018, with its operation in Tanzania now representing a discontinued business. fastjet entered a conditional share sale agreement with local management in Tanzania in relation to the sale of its interest in the holding company of fastjet Tanzania. The Tanzanian unit suspended service operations from 17-Dec-2018.
