Buta Airways was an Azerbaijani airline based at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. It was the second low cost airline established by Azerbaijan's flagship, AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines. Buta is 100% owned by CJSC AZAL Azerbaijan Airlines. Buta Airways operates commercial services to destinations in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. It commenced operations on 01-Sep-2017, with a Baku-Tbilisi service. The airline replaced AZALJET as Azerbaijan Airlines' low cost subsidiary. Buta Airways operated its last flight in Oct-2023 following a merger with AZAL.
