About
Air Kärnten was an Austrian regional start-up to be based at Klagenfurt Airport. The carrier cancelled plans to commence its inaugural twice weekly service to London Southend Airport in May-2015 due to insufficient demand. The start-up changed its strategy, announcing plans to launch charter services to destinations including Pereza, Girona, Lisbon, Palma de Mallorca, Naples, Rhodes and Kos. Since the announcement, Air Kärnten has shut down its website and have not outlined plans to commence charter operations. The start-up is majority owned by Ingo Hitzenhammer, MD of the airline and majority owner of tour provider, Gruber Reisen Kärnten. Air Kärnten planned to operate using Bombardier CRJ200 equipment.
