Adria Airways was the national airline of Slovenia and was based on the grounds of Ljubjana Airport in Zgornji Brnik, Cerklje na Goreniskem, Slovenia. The carrier operated scheduled services to various destinations across Europe and the Middle East, as well as charter services. Adria Airways was wholly-owned by German investment firm, 4K Invest. The carrier had been a member of the Star Alliance since 2004.
Adria Airways filed a motion for bankruptcy on 30-Sep-2019. The company announced all scheduled flights were cancelled effective 30-Sep-2019, due to initiation of bankruptcy proceedings. Air Adriatic purchased Adria Airways for EUR45,000, with the purchase covering the carrier's Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) and obligation.
