About

Saudia, formerly known as Saudi Arabian Airlines, is the national airline of Saudi Arabia and is wholly owned by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The carrier was founded as Saudi Arabian Airlines in 1945, after the Saudi Arabian government received a DC-3 aircraft from US President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Saudia Group developed the national carrier into a major operator in the Middle East. Saudia also established its own cargo division, Saudi Airlines Cargo. As part of the SV2020 Transformation Strategy, the Saudia Group launched flyadeal in Sep-2017, a low cost subsidiary within the government owned airline group. Al Bayraq and Saudia Private Aviation are VIP charter operators within the Saudia Group of airline companies.
