Icelandair Group is the holding company of Icelandair and other travel industry companies. Founded in 1983 and based in Reykjavik, the group currently operates nine subsidiaries including Icelandair, Icelandair Cargo, Loftleidir Icelandic, Bluebird Nordic, Air Iceland, Icelandair Hotels, Iceland Travel, IGS-Icelandair Ground Services, Icelandair Shared Services and VITA.
Icelandair Group signed an agreement on 05-Nov-2018 for acquisition of a 100% stake in WOW air, subject to approval from shareholders and Icelandic competition authorities. Icelandair canceled the WOW air deal in Nov-2018. Icelandair secured a 51% stake in Cabo Verde Airlines in Mar-2019, through subsidiary Loftleidir Cabo Verde.
