About
Founded in 1931, Barceló GRUPO is a diversified Spanish travel and tourism conglomerate operating hotels, retail and corporate travel agencies as well as airlines. The group is headquartered in Palma de Mallorca and is privately-owned by the Barceló family. Airline subsidiaries include scheduled and charter carriers, Evelop Airlines, based at Palma de Mallorca Airport and Orbest PORTUGAL, based at Lisbon Portela Airport. The carriers primarily serve the group's tour operator subsidiaries in addition to providing ad-hoc charters.

Orbest PORTUGAL was originally established in 1998 under the name Iberworld, as a subsidiary of hotel operator, Grupo Iberostar. However, the carrier was acquired by Orizonia Group in 2006 and later rebranded as orbest ORIZONIA airlines. Following the collapse of the Orizonia Group in Feb-2013, the assets of the carrier were sold to Barceló GRUPO.
