Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (DFS, Germany)
Founded in 1993, Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) is the organisation charged with providing air traffic control services in German airspace. The organisation is 100% owned by the German Government. Since 1994, DFS has also been responsible for the handling of military air traffic in peacetime, though not at military air bases. The DFS operates five control centres, located in Bremen, Langen Hesse (HQ), Karlsruhe, Munich and Maastricht - Netherlands, as well as the towers at 16 international airports and nine regional airports (under subsidiary DFS Aviation Services) throughout Germany. DFS Aviation Services GmbH was created in 2017 following the merger of DFS internal Aeronautical Solutions and the DFS subsidiary The Tower Company.
