The future of aircraft values

The problems the world is facing now with COVID has a disproportionate impact on aviation.  This is a time of change and of experimentation. Theoretically various scenarios may unfold.  The relevant players in the industry will try their solutions.  Some will succeed, some will fail.

Manufacturers are betting on when to reopen the line on various aircraft types.  It takes time to order parts and get everything in order to resume output at the correct level.  Too soon or too late will have tremendous implications for the profitability of the manufacturers.  Theoretically we cannot predict which solution is optimal.

The real life experimentation will provide answer as to who was successful.  Same for airlines. They have to decide when to start calling back personnel from furloughs, when to bring widebody aircraft from parking.  Doing it too soon will have financial implications, too late will cost a competitive position. Some will succeed, some will fail.  This is a time for experimentation like never before with real life consequences.
