Pittsburgh International CEO Airport Update

Pittsburgh International Airport chief executive officer Christina Cassotis highlights that recent growth at the US airport has been driven by the transformation of the city of Pittsburgh from a manufacturing-based economy into a diversified economy covering finance, health care, technology etc. She says this has enhanced air service needs and enabled the airport to transition away from an old hub-and-spoke model to support origin and destination demand flows. With connecting flows falling from 70% to just 4% she details how the airport has rebuilt its air service profile, but acknowledges a clear need for more capacity to the US west coast.
