PROMPERÚ director of tourism promotion Maria del Sol Velásquez, speaking at the CAPA Airline Leader Summit Latin America & Caribbean, said (10-Sep-2025) it is essential that Peru addresses costs for tourists. Ms Velásquez said PROMPERÚ is working with partners to increase the diversification of tourism attractions and is seeking events and looking to the MICE sector to attract more arrivals. However, she said more incentives are needed to bring in more events and PROMPERÚ is seeking to work with the government to provide these.

Maria del Sol Velásquez:Good morning. On behalf of PROMPERÚ, it's an honor for us to have you here at CAPA Airline Leader Summit Latin America Caribbean. We would like to thank the Center of Aviation, CAPA, for trusting Peru and choosing us as a host. We are confident that each one of you will take away an unforgettable experience. We are proud to host international forums such as this one because we're not only a country of great historical, cultural, natural, and culinary wealth, but also a competitive destination for marine tourism. Here, every congress, fair, or convention becomes an experience to combine business and productivity with unique encounters. We have modern infrastructure for world-class events, growing air connectivity, and tourism industry increasing, prepared to meet demands of the business travelers. In this regard, the recent inauguration of the new Jorge Chávez International Airport reinforces our role as a strategic hub in South America. In addition, Peru offers something no other destination can replicate: the opportunity to complete work agendas with unforgettable experiences. From discovering Machu Picchu, a wonder of the world, to exploring our Amazon rainforest, the desert of our coast, the majestic Andes, and of course, why not enjoying our renowned gastronomy, considered one of the best in the world. For us, it's really an honor to host an event of this magnitude, to have you, each one of you, here in Peru, because it aligns with our strategy here in PROMPERÚ of attracting high-impact international events.
