ST Engineering's Aerospace Arm expands China operations to a second location
(CAPA) Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering)
announced that Shanghai Technologies Aerospace Company Limited (STARCO), the
joint venture between Singapore Technologies Aerospace (ST Aerospace) and China
Eastern Airlines (CEA), is expanding their maintenance, repair and overhaul
(MRO) facility with the groundbreaking of a new hangar complex at Shanghai Pudong
Airport.
ST Aerospace is the aerospace arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering).
This expansion is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
The new hangar complex for STARCO will be located at the Pudong Airport in Shanghai. STARCO currently has a facility in Hongqiao. The new hangar, costing approximately USD37.3 million, will be capable of accommodating three narrow-body aircraft and two wide-body aircraft simultaneously, including the A380 aircraft. It is expected to be operational by mid-09. The new hangar will increase ST Aerospace's total hangar capacity to 45 narrow-body slots and 27 wide-body slots.
