SkyWest to swing to unusual loss in 1Q

Premium Analysis

In a highly unusual event for the airline, SkyWest will post a net loss for the first quarter. According to guidance issued on Friday, it expects to post a net loss between USD13 and USD15 million on lower block hours. In addition to higher maintenance, fuel and crew costs, Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) took a USD7 million hit owing to last year's reduction in the Delta Connection rates.
