SAS shares gain on January traffic

Analysis

SAS shares rose 4.3% on Monday as it reported a 5.4% increase in passenger traffic in Jan-2011 and stated yields would rise from Dec-2010 levels (which were down 8.2% year-on-year).

SAS stated, "The market remains unpredictable, particularly yield development, due to overcapacity in certain markets. Due to high load factors, RASK (revenue per available seat kilometre) has been relatively stable."

Elsewhere, Cimber Sterling fell 2.1% and Norwegian gained 0.8% yesterday. Finnair was 0.6% higher at the close.

Selected European airlines daily share price movements (% change): 07-Feb-2011
