TAV bids to operate Medina airport
Analysis
TAV submitted a tender with a consortium formed with Saudi Oger Ltd and Al Rajhi Holding Group for the 25-year operating tender for Saudi Arabia's Medina Airport. Each company owns an equal share in the consortium.
TAV Turkish Airports also shrugged aside the ash-related travel disruption in northern Europe over late May-2011 to report a 7% increase in traffic at its nine airports for the month. Shares in the Turkish airports operator rose 4.6%
TAV Holdings traffic highlights in May-2011:
- Passenger numbers: 4.1 million, +7%;
- Istanbul Ataturk: 3.1 million, +13%;
- Domestic: 1.1 million, +15%;
- International: 2.0 million, +12%;
- Esenboga: 701,424, +11%;
- Domestic: 596,032, +11%;
- International: 105,392, +8%;
- Izmir: 216,682, +6%;
- Tunisia (Monastir and Enfidha): 165,475, -53%;
- Tbilisi: 82,866, +39%;
- Batumi: 7661, +21%;
- Macedonia (Skopje and Ohrid): 66,382, +11%.
- Istanbul Ataturk: 3.1 million, +13%;
Shares in Aeroporto di Firenze were up 5.2%, arresting a six-day run of decline stock prices.
