SIA reports bumper operating profit, but bumpier ride ahead

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has stunned financial markets with a 60.1% lift in operating profit in the 12 months ended 31-Mar-08, thanks to an 11% increase in passenger yield and stronger load factors. Net profit for the year fell 3.1%, due to a lack of one-off gains and deferred tax provision benefits.
