India traffic falls in 2008, but congestion and controller shortages still a major issue
Indian passenger traffic has been in negative territory since Jun-08, with the full year traffic figures released by the Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation in mid-Jan-09 revealing the full extent of the decline. Passenger traffic handled by Indian carriers dropped 5.1% year-on-year, from 42.9 million to 40.8 million for the full year.
