Fraport shares soar on fourth runway approval - worldwide airport share price wrap

Analysis

Fraport shares leapt 6.5% on news of a decision by the Hessen State Court to approve the construction of a fourth runway and Terminal 3 at Frankfurt's Rhein-Main Airport. It was not all good news however, as restrictions on night flights have been proposed.

Summary
  • Fraport shares rise strongly on court approval for the construction of a fourth runway and Terminal 3 at Frankfurt Airport.

IATA stated that while it welcomed the decision on the fourth runway, "severe restrictions on night flights constrain international cargo operations and will hurt economic growth". IATA added, "this should be reconsidered in a future court ruling".

Meanwhile, Ferrovial's shares were flat, as the environmental movement ramped up its defense against the proposed third runway at London Heathrow, controlled by Ferrovial unit, BAA.
