Football and airport privatisation - Brazil sets new goals

The Brazilian Defence Minister, Nelson Jobim, has indicated that the Brazilian Government may privatise the operations of state-owned Galeão-Antônio Carlos Jobim (Rio de Janeiro) and Viracopos/Campinas International (Sao Paulo area) airports. The move is part of preparations for the influx of visitors during the 2014 Soccer World Cup and as Brazil bids to host the 2016 Olympic Games. The privatisation process will reportedly commence in 2009.
