easyJet Jan passenger numbers climb 11.2 pct

LONDON (XFNews) - No-frills airline easyJet PLC said passenger numbers in January rose 11.2 pct to 2,316,749 against the same period a year ago.
However, the Luton-based airline said its load factor during the month, which shows how full its aircraft were, was 74.2 pct, down from the 76.4 pct recorded in January 2005.
During the 12 months to January 2006, passenger numbers climbed 16.9 pct to 30,534,888 while the load factor was 84.6 pct against 84.4 pct and unaudited total revenue lifted 19.8 pct to 1.394 bln stg.
Chief executive Andrew Harrison said: "Our total revenue performance this month was in line with our expectations and our guidance for the year to September 2006 remains unchanged."
The company said it would issue its regular trading statement for the quarter ending Dec 31 2005 prior to its annual meeting on Feb 22.
