Item 1: Aviation Big Picture: Learning from the past to foresee the future. 2025 in view.
0940-1030, 27-Oct-2016

This is to be the first formal panel session on the agenda at CAPA's joint Summit with ACTE. Three leaders at the cutting edge of developments will engage in a lively discussion of their expectations of the industry in 2025.

The international aviation world will indeed look very different in a decade.

The major US airlines are re-emerging from their shells as prosperity (and slow growth in their mature domestic market), prompts them to go forth internationally; China is inevitably and remorselessly stamping its shape on global markets; the Gulf carriers continue to expand and attract the ire of those who prefer the status quo; and low cost airlines proliferate and metamorphose.

And all this while - sadly - airlines look like remaining confined to the 1940s archaic ownership and control rules. Within this confinement, they continue to struggle to find new ways of expanding their geography. Some airlines and their governments want greater liberalisation, others want less and the consensus appears to be that we have passed the zenith of global open skies.

Get to the heart of today's complex international aviation issues with the expertise and vision that only these industry leaders can provide. These leaders will make sense of key issues that are affecting the aviation and travel industry - and particularly corporate travel managers.

Their fast-paced discussion brings you the latest on the issues that are critical in determining the way the next decade will shape up, such as Disintermediation, Middle East carriers, Legacy Hubs, Open Skies, Bilaterals, Point to point, content availability, and more.

Moderator: CAPA - Centre for Aviation
, Executive Chairman, Peter Harbison

Panel Members:

  • AirAsia, Group Chief Executive, Tony Fernandes
  • Qatar Airways, Group Chief Executive, H.E. Akbar Al Baker
  • WTTC, President & CEO, David Scowsill
