CAAC reports 6% increase in Dec-2010 traffic, TAV up strongly

China’s CAAC reported Dec-2010 traffic in China rose 6% year-on-year, to 20.8 million passengers. Domestic traffic was up 5.3%, while international traffic volume rose 17.1%.

Full-year traffic was up 16.1% to 246 million passengers. Domestic traffic rose 15.1%, to 228.3 million, while international traffic rose by almost a third, to 17.7 million. Cargo volume rose by 26.5%.

Shares in Chinese airports were mixed: Shanghai International Airport Co continued its upward run, gaining 2.7%, while Xiamen (+0.8%) and Gunagzhou Baiyun (+0.7%) also rose. Beijing shares fell 2.3%, with Hainan Meilan shares 1.1% lower.

Shares in Turkish airport operator TAV rose 4.4% on Monday, despite only a weak gain on the Istanbul stock exchange.

Shares in Airports of Thailand dipped 3% on Monday, as Thailand’s SET Index shed 1.8%. The index has lost 6.7% for the year to date.
