CAAC issues cross-Strait allocations; but commencement date remains uncertain

Further details are emerging on the much-anticipated cross-Straits liberalisation, with the CAAC this month announcing details of the route and schedule allocations for the 'regular' (ie scheduled) cross-Strait services. Under the allocation, nine passenger airlines (to operate 136 weekly return services) and two cargo airlines (to operate 14 return services) have been designated to operate services, with China Eastern Airlines benefiting slightly more from the allocations.
