Airbus announces $14 billion worth of orders during airshow

TOULOUSE (Airbus) - Airbus announced orders and commitments (excluding options) for 157 airliners worth around $14 billion during the Dubai air show. The deals reaffirm Airbus' leading role in the airliner business and reflect an increasingly strong market recovery.

They also take commitments for Airbus' new A350 airliner to 155 - a total that is expected to rise to around 200 by the end of the year.

The sales came from America, Europe and India - as well as the Middle East - highlighting the global success of the modern Airbus aircraft family.

The full breakdown of announcements comprises AerCap for 70 A320 Family aircraft, ALAFCO of Kuwait for twelve A350s, International Lease Finance Corporation of America for 12 A350s, Jazeera Airways of Kuwait for six A320s, Kingfisher Airlines of India for 30 A320 Family aircraft, National Air Service (NAS) of Saudi Arabia for five A318 Elites, TAP Air Portugal for ten A350s and seven A330s, and an undisclosed private customer for five A320 Family aircraft.

Airbus' success is founded on innovative design, which enables it to provide its customers and operators with the most efficient and comfortable product range - from the 100-seat Airbus A318 all the way up to the world's largest and newest airliner, the double-deck A380.

Airbus is also unique in offering airlines a common cockpit in every single passenger aircraft that it produces today, which makes it easier and quicker for pilots to switch between aircraft types during their career - while saving airlines time and money.

Airbus has booked the most airliner orders in five out of the last six years and, for the third year running, is set to deliver the most aircraft.

Airbus is an EADS joint Company with BAE Systems.
