Chinese airports ended the week on a positive note on Friday (04-Sep-2009) with Beijing Airport again leading the increase, up 4.2%.
Airport shares across the Asia Pacific region were mixed, with Japan Airport Terminals and Australian Infrastructure Fund also gaining in trading on Friday, while Macquarie Airports, Airports of Thailand and Auckland Airport fell 2.4%, 2.0% and 1.1%, respectively.
In Europe, airport shares were generally higher, with Vienna Airport, BAA's parent Ferrovial and Aeroports de Paris closing up 2.8%, 2.4% and 1.3%, respectively. Fraport ended the week lower, easing 0.5%.
Meanwhile, Switzerland’s airport duty free retailer, Dufry, released its 1H2009 financial highlights, which showed revenue soared 21.4% year-on-year. Shares in the company rose 5.8% on Friday. Dufry's 1H2009 financial highlights included:
- Revenue: EUR751.7 million, +21.4% year-on-year;
- Costs: EUR333.5 million, +17.9%;
- EBIT: EUR43.4 million, -16.8%;
- EBT: EUR27.6 million, -42.6%;
- Net profit: EUR22.1 million, -39.8%.
