Jazeera Airways launches services to Cairo

Analysis

Jazeera Airways has commenced 10 times weekly service from Kuwait to Cairo, with frequency to increase to 21 times per week from, 16-Jun-2011.

With this new route, Jazeera Airways now operates to six Egyptian destinations from Kuwait, namely Alexandria, Cairo, Luxor, Sharm El Sheikh, Assiut and Sohag. The airline also operates to Hurghada and Marsa Alaam on a seasonal basis.

Jazeera Airways Chairman Marwan Boodai said: "Operating to Cairo has been a goal for everyone working in Jazeera Airways since our beginnings in 2005 when we had hoped that Cairo would be one of our first destinations. It took five years for this flight to happen, but the wait was worth it. Egypt today is new and full of optimism; the spirit of change is sweeping the country. We are very proud to have witnessed this change and for being the first new operator to Cairo."

The airline's shares rose 2.1% yesterday.
