ICAO moves on climate change 2050 “roadmap”

Premium Analysis

In the end, the International Civil Aviation Organisation emerged reasonably well as the focus of aviation's climate change policy at last month's 37th Assembly. Most airline bodies expressed support for adoption of what was a comprehensive Resolution to reduce aviation emissions. ICAO called the agreement a "roadmap for action through 2050", covering joint action by airlines, governments, manufacturers and air traffic control bodies. The bottom line: probably about as good as could have been expected; not perfect, but a lot better than it might have been. Solid progress has been made.
