Hong Kong, China to increase capacity on air routes

Citing an industry source, the Hong Kong-based newspaper said an agreement has been reached in principle to calculate capacity by the number of flights rather than the number of seats allocated.

Given the tight time slots at gateway airports, airlines will be given the flexibility to use larger aircraft , the newspaper said, citing Lok Kung-nam, former head of the Civil Aviation Department.

"This move opens the door for Hong Kong or mainland airlines to gain capacity to key markets, without being granted an increase in flights," the newspaper quoted him as saying.
