Guangzhou Baiyun earnings rise on passenger surge

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Co Ltd (GBIA), reported

a 44.6% year-on-year rise in net profit in the six months ended 30-Jun-07. The

result was boosted by a 7.3% increase in operating revenue combined with 19%

and 26.8% reductions in management and financial expenses, respectively. China's

strong aviation market growth had a positive impact on GBIA's result. The airport's

passenger traffic rose 17.6% (on a par with China's overall average growth),

while cargo volume increased 6.4% in the period (well below the Mainland average).
