French air transport bosses sign up to environmental targets -report
Paris (Thomson Financial) - Bosses of French air transport businesses including Air France-KLM and ADP yesterday signed a preliminary agreement committing to measures to cut carbon dioxide emissions and noise as part of wider European objectives.
The airline and airport bosses as well as heads of smaller companies signed the agreement in the presence of environment minister Jean-Louis Borloo, Les Echos reported.
Air France-KLM chairman Jean-Cyril Spinetta said "our objective is to reach an average fuel consumption of 3.7 litres per passenger kilometre between now and 2012, or a decrease of 15-20 pct."
Airport operator ADP's chief executive also referred to a 10 pct cut in emissions, achievable simply through a minute's reduction in the time aircraft are taxiing on the ground, the paper said.
