flydubai to take delivery of first B737-800; Rwandair to be privatised

Unlisted flydubai will take delivery of its first B737-800 aircraft equipped with Lumexis' "Fibre To The Screen" IFE product next month. The carrier and Lumexis previously signed an agreement covering the installation of the FFTS system in 44 B737-800NGs.

The Rwandan Government announced it has also set aside USD98 million as capital for Rwandair over the next three years with the government planning to privatise the carrier once it breaks even. Rwandair's CEO Rene Janata stated the carrier is still at start-up phase and was "not expected to make a profit overnight".

African shares were mixed, with Lonrho (-2.3%) and Kenya Airways (-0.5%) on the decline while 1time and Comair remained stable.
