East Star Airlines increases fleet with A320s

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - East Star Airlines, a private Chinese carrier, signed agreements to purchase ten A320s and lease ten more with Airbus and GECAS respectively.

The aircraft will be powered by CFM International CFM56-5B engines. Other details include:

  • Launch: May-06;
  • Base: Wuhan, Hubei Province;
  • Aircraft delivery:
    • Purchased aircraft: by 2011;
    • Leased aircraft: first three in 2Q06 and remainder by 2008;
  • Network: More than ten domestic destinations initially;
  • Investors: Three private firms, including tourism and property investment company, China East Star Group Co Ltd
  • Registered capital: CNY80 million.
