Christchurch Airport announces it plans to construct new domestic terminal

SYDNEY (Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation) - Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) announced plans for the construction of a new NZD200 million domestic terminal and integrated international terminal facilities, to be completed by 2009. CIAL stated it will self-finance the project, which includes:

  • Combined domestic and international check-in hall;
  • New domestic terminal;
  • New international/domestic "swing" gates;
  • New control tower;
  • New baggage handling systems;
  • Combined retail precinct for international and domestic travellers;
  • Additional gate lounges;
  • Construction of a new car park building is also due to commence in early 2006.
