China takes away Beijing flights from Air China, China Eastern due to delays

Analysis

Beijing (XFN-ASIA) - The General Administration of Civil Aviation

of China (CAAC) said it has taken away one scheduled flight each from Air China

and China Eastern Airlines out of Beijing Capital International Airport due

to repeated delays.

The administration said in a statement on its website that it had issued two warnings previously due to the delays.

Three flights of Air China and one of China Eastern suffered delays of over 10 hours on Tuesday, according to the regulator. It did not give a reason behind the delays.

The CAAC added that as aircraft movement intervals at the Beijing airport have averaged no more than one minute at peak hours, it has also moved preventively to reduce flights by 92 at the airport, in a bid to ensure flight safety and smooth operations in the runup to the Olympics.
