British Airways unions meet for fourth strike ballot

British Airways' cabin crew union, Unite, stated approximately 10,000 cabin crew members at the airline have commenced voting on strike action at the airline, for the fourth time in two years. The ballot commenced on 01-Mar-2011 and closes on 28-Mar-2011.

Unite's general secretary Len McCluskey extended an invitation to British Airway's new CEO Keith Williams, to meet to discuss solutions to the cabin crew dispute, now in its third year. Unite added that Mr Williams has begun his tenure as CEO by "striking a more positive tone with cabin crew".

In trading on Tuesday, shares in International Airline Group, the company formed from the merger of British Airways and Iberia, were down 0.8%, as European airline stocks closed lower. Turkish Airlines shares dropped 6%, while Cimber Sterling was down 4%.
