Boeing unveils B747-8I

Boeing rolled out the B747-8I at its Everett, Washington, facility over the weekend. The company aims to conduct the first flight of the passenger version in Mar-2011. The aircraft will enter service with Lufthansa in early 2012, which will configure the aircraft with 386 seats. Boeing has 106 orders for the B747-8: 74 freighter versions and 33 passenger aircraft.

Boeing confirmed that its preference for its narrowbody programme is for an all-new replacement for the B737NG. The company is due to make an announcement mid-2011.

Shares in Boeing were down 0.8%, while EADS was up 3.7%.

Also gaining strongly was Zodiac Aerospace (+4.1%) and Safran (+2.9%).
